Have been reading Martha Well’s “Murderbot Diaries” and Diana Gabladon’s “Outlander” series. Both of them are in first person and very close perspective. The protagonists’ thoughts and feelings are always on display. They have given me a master class in writing your own genre. Granted, they are written by women and if they had been written by men, I probably wouldn’t have picked up on a lot of it. Their slant on things is just different enough for me to notice and take note of. Great books.
